"From the factory floor and the drilling rig to the engineering office and the boardroom, I have found it’s all about the people – their potential, perceptions and principles, their clarity of communication, their capacity and their cohesiveness, their motivation, their leadership and their mutual support. In all organisations the people challenges are many but mostly straight-forward. The journey together is both frustrating and immensely rewarding. I have found it can even be fun."
Bill Lazarus began his professional career in an engineering capacity within the Canadian mining and manufacturing industries. In 1978 he joined a multi-national oil company based in Calgary, ultimately providing on-site supervision for the drilling and completion of on-shore oil and gas wells.
This hands-on management experience brought Bill to Australia in 1981, where during a thirteen year period he came to manage a major ASX-listed company’s hydrocarbon production operations in Queensland and then South Australia.
In 1994, Bill moved to the renewable energy industry, there performing various general management roles for a listed Australian company over a nine year period, culminating in the position of company COO, and CEO of their waste management technology subsidiary.
Bill founded his own consultancy in 2004, successfully providing project development services to equity-held commercial, residential and industrial property developments, interim management services to the coal seam gas industry particularly in the environmental/ stakeholder relations areas, and specialist advisory services to the resources and energy sectors.
It can be said that his core strength lies is his commitment to people and the effectiveness of leadership and organisations.
